How to Dig a Hole for Planting Hop RhizomesThis hole can be anywhere from 9 to 12 inches deep and the same distance around horizontally. The layers of materials to put into your hole are the following from the bottom of the hole to the top of the hole. 1" of wood ash, 1" of straw, grass clippings or mulch, 1" of compost or manuer, 3" of top soil and then cover the hole with the last layer of 3" of mulch.fattymattybrewing
